Hungry
“That night we were so hungry hat we stole people’s food while they slept.” This was the sentence in A Long Way Gone that popped out to me in chapter 4. where Beah and his friends were running away from an attacked village nowhere to go. In a movie I saw now I don’t remember the name, but it had an interesting subject about why some people steal they said which I also agree that is most times they’re just hungry. They use the last resort to surviving to get what they need they don’t or can’t have. Why? I don’t think it’s wrong or good but why are they hungry?

ReplyDeleteYou bring up an interesting question - Why do people steal? You also ask other questions worth exploring, such as why are they hungry.
Rather than leaving it at the questions, though, there is enough in the text for you to make intuitive/educated guesses.
Instead of of just asking questions of the text, go back into the text and text and try to explain the behaviors. What is going on that they steal, and are so hungry?
Explore your own ideas and questions rather than summarizing everything and leaving it for reader to connect the puzzle pieces.
You jump from the text to an unnamed movie and back to the text, so quickly that your idea is not developed. Each of those points needs development.
For example, the only thing we get about the movie is that it had some interesting ideas on why people steal - then we get nothing. Just one little vague reason. They steal because they are hungry. Don't oversimplify your points. Go into more detail with each point.

Though there's much to work on, for the first blog post I am giving full credit to all those that did theirs on time. That said, you have much to work with, and I look forward to seeing you expand on your ideas.
DJ: I'm guessing that you've given up on the course, but all of the assignments are on the class blog. As are some reminders and guidelines for the last few weeks.
